Distribution of Medicines During Covid-19

Mixture of types and colours of tablets in blister packaging

Pharmac has indicated that medicine supply chains in NZ are affected by the impact of COVID-19 in the rest of the world.  We know it can be frustrating to have to come back every month for your repeats.  BUT… did you know you can order your repeats online?  Visit www.cromwellpharmacy.co.nz, navigate to the “repeats” page and you can send us a request into our email inbox.

There are a few things you should know about repeats:

  • Try to plan to get your next supply when you have about 5 to 7 days left in the bottle.  Please don’t stop taking regular medication when it runs out!
  • The label indicates how many repeats there are remaining on the prescription.  Check your label before ringing the Medical Centre for another script.
  • We recommend that you save time by phoning us in advance of your visit or use our website, email address, Google or Facebook page to message us.
  • If you have trouble remembering to collect repeats, you can sign up to our free repeat reminder service - ask at the Pharmacy counter about this super service.
  • After 3 dispensings, or 3 months’ worth of treatment, it is time for you to arrange a new prescription from the doctors.  The label will read “no repeats remaining”.
  • There is an expiry date on the Pharmacy label for subsidy purposes.  Try to note this date down somewhere important if you are liable to forget.
  • If you are unable to return monthly for reasons such as travel, distance, immobility, or relocation, we can dispense the repeats all at once, and we will ask you to sign the prescription.
  • Lake Dunstan Pharmacy operates a joint database with Cromwell Pharmacy so you can collect your repeats at EITHER pharmacy.  However, we recommend that you stick to one or the other for regular medicines as per your preference.  Your privacy will be protected at all times.

There will always be exceptions to the above general rules!  However, we are always happy to take your specific queries on the phone or at the counter. #heretohelp
